My commitment to teaching and tutoring comes from a lifetime of curiosity, learning, and reading. I was fortunate to attend and succeed at good schools which prepared me for a career, but also gave me an appreciation of many aspects of life. Knowing about a thing makes it more enjoyable. I enjoy meeting new people and working with them in a quiet, deliberate manner that covers material at least twice to ensure full understanding. From childhood, I have loved and excelled in English language studies being passionate about reading, writing and speaking English effectively. I tutored my daughter through her school years and instilled in her a love of reading, writing, literature, and the English language. I am particularly strong in the areas of literature, grammar, and vocabulary. My other area of English expertise is in the area of business writing, having prepared numerous grant applications, presentations, and research papers. My career has been in business. I graduated from the Harvard Business School and enjoyed a finance based corporate career that included start ups, turnarounds, and both general and project management. I enjoy tutoring in all areas of business and can bring over 30 years of real world experience to my lessons. Having held positions as CEO,COO, VP of Business Development, Acquisition, and Divestment, and Analyst, my experience covers most areas of business at most levels. Many years ago, I worked in Cali, Colombia where I learned Spanish which I use routinely and enjoy teaching. Hobbies
For 18 years, I have been an active, founding member of the board of directors of a well respected Montessori preschool in Houston. In my leisure time, I enjoy reading, spending time with family and friends, and the outdoors. My curiosity leads me to research all sorts of subjects when they occur to me and I've returned to practicing the piano.
