Hobbies
I am currently a high school chemistry teacher and alternative school tutor for math and science. Some of my hobbies are reading articles, exercising, and playing soccer. I also enjoy helping people, especially students who struggle to understand math and science concepts. It's always cool when students have that 'aha' moment because it means that they are listening, processing and understanding. It also means that I play a role in the successful journey of these students. My duty as a tutor is to help guide the thoughts of my students so that they can grasp the concepts and build confidence in their cognitive abilities. I use scaffolding and various learning strategies in order to teach students in the way that they learn. I meet students where they are and guide them to a clearer and deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. My BS degree is in chemistry and this fact made it possible for me to have a deeper understanding of matter and the changes it undergoes. Teaching high school chemistry allows me to find great resources that will be beneficial to each student. In addition, the exposure that I now have with American Chemical Society and Association of Chemistry Teachers for Texas has given me the advantage of attaining helpful materials and ideas for tutoring Chemistry.
