Contrary to popular belief, however, this confusion isn’t a bad thing - quite the opposite, it is essential to intellectual growth, the sweat of learning. Just as well as I know the feeling of not quite “getting” something, I know the immense joy that comes with overcoming it and excelling as a result. Over my 4 years as an instructor, I’ve seen the wonders that giving children a deep conceptual understanding of the basics, and showing them why everything they learn is exciting and interesting, can do.
