Experience
For me, being a successful tutor starts with developing a good relationship with each student. I make sure my students know they can ask me any question without hesitation. Knowing how to ask questions is a skill that will help them far beyond just their education. With this, I try to teach students how to work both diligently and intelligently. I work with students to develop ways to stay focused and break down the task at hand. This is particularly important not only in education but also in the workplace and many other parts of life. I have tutored elementary school students at a summer program as well as high students from Cristo Rey High School in Houston, Texas. I recently went through the college admissions process, a rigorous high school experience, and expansive standardized test prep. Through this I scored 5's on AP Calculus AB, AP French Language and Culture, and AP US History, and 4's on AP Calculus BC and AP English Language and Composition. I graduated from St. John's School in Houston, Texas, with a 3.9 GPA. I was also a National Merit Finalist with top scores on the PSAT, SAT, and ACT. I am available to tutor in a variety of subjects but am most excited about helping with test preparation, study/organization skills, standardized test prep, English, math, and essay editing both for college and for other subjects.
