Tutoring Experience: I worked for the General Honors Community at my university as a writing tutor for several students and an art history aide for a sight-impaired student. I got to spend my summers working for Freer-Sackler Smithsonian Galleries in DC, assisting with their kids education programs, and since school have taught summer ceramics classes at Northern Clay Center in Minneapolis as well. I also currently volunteer in a probation program mentoring and assisting middle and high schoolers. SAT: Critical Reading - 770, Math - 580, Writing - 730. Why I Tutor: Growing up, my sisters and I used to battle to see who could find a vocabulary word to stump our dad (who was an English teacher). I love learning and I enjoy helping other people have that kind of experience: where schoolwork is about engaging and building your own mind, where tutor and student get to explore subjects and build confidence instead of feeling locked down in an institutional environment.
