I earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology-Anthropology from Northeastern University in Boston (2001) The choice of major was informed by the experience of growing up in another culture. When I returned home to the US, cultural anthropology was a natural choice for me. My 2015 watercolor, Market Day, depicts a woman balancing a basket on her head. Experience
I’m a watercolorist. As a freelance artist and the owner of Six Roads Visual Communication, I am responsible for day-to-day operations, analyzing reports, budgeting, managing prospects, and conducting marketing campaigns. I plan and execute the painted works that form the basis of my studio’s projects. Currently, I am working on a series featuring endangered wildlife, and have started volunteering at a local retirement community, where I facilitate a drawing class for the residents, exploring with them the beneficial effects of the creative process on human well-being. I want to tutor because I’d love for others to experience the joy that comes from engaging in the creative process. I also want to understand my work better by teaching it. Hobbies
My daughter has been the subject of several of my portaits. Twelve Days is taken from one of her baby pictures; Girl With Bun and Sunny were both done last year. I loved the way the bright sun in Sunny made the color of her jacket reflect on her face. When I’m not painting, I’m homeschooling my daughter, and training our Australian Cattle Dog puppy, who is about to reach his first birthday. I’ve been traveling abroad since the age of six, and still like to do that occasionally, as well as garden, can fruit and experiment with cake recipes.
