Rice University - BS, Biochemistry
In my both my professional and personal life, I enjoy a challenge. I bring that same sense of energy, focus, dedication, and fun to my work as a tutor. I graduated from Rice University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry with a minor in poverty, justice and human capabilities. I served as a physics and chemistry teacher and as the varsity cross-country and soccer coach at a Houston-area high school through Teach for America. That experience was vital in becoming the teacher I am today, as I learned to teach math and science in a variety of ways to a variety of students. As a tutor, I'm able to offer my students assistance in middle school math, pre-algebra, algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, biochemistry, biology, chemistry, physics, physical science, life sciences, and SAT preparation. I really enjoy working with students and seeing them light up when they have a breakthrough and feel like they really understand something for the first time. When I'm not in the classroom teaching, I enjoy all kinds of sports, from running to soccer to Ultimate Frisbee. Also, I'm a fan of trying new things, such as learning guitar and writing fiction.
