Experience
I attended the University of Houston where I graduated with a bachelor's degree in English and minored in world literature and cultures. I teach English Language Arts. Writing is my favorite course to teach because I enjoy helping students overcome their fear of writing. Many find it a daunting task, and I help them break the task into small steps, showing them that there is nothing to fear. I believe that education begins with the student, and they need to be motivated to learn. I hope to provide that motivation. When I teach, I use the gradual release strategy, where I am very involved in the lesson at the beginning, and then slowly let the student take over on their own. I am available to tutor a variety of courses, including English, Phonics, Literature, College Essays, IB Extended Essay, Elementary Math, Middle School Math, Pre-Algebra, and STAAR Grades 3-8. When I am not teaching, I like to read, write, cook, go to the beach, or take my dog to the dog parks. I also like barbecues with my family, trying new restaurants, and listening to music.
