Private tutor in Houston, TX
Education
University of Houston - BA, English Literature
Experience
I attended the University of Houston Honors College where I earned a degree in English Literature, with a minor in Film Theory. My focus when tutoring has been teaching English subjects, but I also tutor a variety of other subjects, including standardized test preparation. I believe the most important aspect of a great teacher or tutor is an approachable disposition that makes learning itself approachable. I am an English student, tutor, and community arts organizer, and I pride myself in being accessible. I still have a passion for learning as well as teaching, and I feel that everyone is a lifelong learner and should never stop due to age or past accomplishments. While tutoring, I like to be enthusiastic, yet professional. I am a great listener and willing to discuss any learning hurdle a student is facing and work with them until we both find the right answer. I have spent a large portion of my life traveling the world, and I have spent time in Turkey, England, and the Netherlands. This has given me an open-minded outlook on life. I love art, and one of my accomplishments in the arts world was founding a pop-up gallery where art could be shared freely. My gallery also had free entry, held workshops, and hosted discussion sessions.
