I am a mathematics tutor and education consultant who believes that everyone is a “math person” and that ALL students can learn calculus before they graduate from high school! As a tutor of students in grades K-12+, I patiently encourage both struggling and advanced students alike to discover their hidden math power by thinking strategically about mathematical ideas and concepts. Prior to pursuing a career as a tutor and consultant, I served for 30 years in three Houston-area school districts as a mathematics teacher, teacher trainer, and most recently as the Curriculum Manager for Secondary Mathematics in the Houston Independent School District. I have taught teachers at the university level and have delivered presentations about mathematics instruction to educators in Texas, the United States, Canada, and New Zealand. My father once taught me this: “If you can read, you can learn anything, and if you can do math, you can do anything.” The reason I continue to work with students and teachers is the same reason why I became a teacher in the first place: to give ALL kids the opportunity to do the “anything” of their dreams by learning mathematics!
