Hello there! My name is Lauren, and I have recently graduated with my Master's in English from Texas A&M University (where I also received my undergraduate degree in 2009). I was a Graduate Consultant at the Texas A&M University Writing Center and a teaching assistant for the English Department where I advised multiple disciplines of engineering students on the fields of technical writing and written and verbal communication. These experiences gave me the opportunity to advise and edit for multiple disciplines. Through the Writing Center, I gained the following certifications: College Reading & Learning Association Writing and Speaking Tutor – Level 1 College Reading & Learning Association Writing and Speaking Advanced Tutor – Level 2 Before graduate school, I also spent some time as a substitute teacher in the Katy Independent School District, where I gained experience working with elementary and intermediate level students. I now work full time as a PMO analyst at a law firm. I am available for tutoring most evenings and weekends.

Hobbies
In addition to my academic studies in technical writing, I also took several creative writing courses. My MA thesis, "A Study of Classic Folklore in Children’s Fiction: The Didactic Function of Fantasy in Promoting Civic Responsibility in Children’s Literature" allowed me to explore the realm of children's fiction while also completing my own young adult fantasy fiction project. Outside of school, I am an avid runner. I actually just ran my first full marathon last year! I also enjoy science fiction and action films, hanging out with my younger siblings, and attending music and art events Downtown.
