Experience
I find nothing more satisfying than helping someone become more confident and proficient in a second language. Since I didn't start studying Spanish until my junior year of college, I understand the (sometimes difficult and awkward) process of learning a language as an adult. But don't let anyone tell you that it can't be done. (It can even be fun!) My teaching experience includes 7 years teaching English as a Foreign Language in Spain and 13 years teaching Spanish in Houston area schools (mostly in Spring Branch ISD), teaching level 1 up to Spanish AP Language. Since June 2014, I have dedicated myself exclusively to tutoring Spanish and ESL, mostly through organizations but also privately through tutoring websites and word of mouth. I really enjoy creating personalized lessons and getting to know my students. Currently, I primarily work with students on conversation and pronunciation as well as some exam/course preparation. I have also published original work in both languages and have work experience in bilingual positions such as the Consulate General of Spain in Houston, but overall I prefer teaching to writing and administrative work. I generally prefer to tutor students in the Spring Branch area, but I would be open to adding classes in areas among current travel routes (for example, I travel to Katy most Saturday afternoons for one class, so I would be willing to add another student in the area). I can charge by the hour or for several classes paid in advance (with a discount). On Mondays and Fridays my schedule is currently very open, so I would be open to driving to other areas then.

Hobbies
I study French and Portuguese for fun (and also to keep up with technological advances in language learning so I can refer resources to my students) and train with a Masters swim team. Some of my best experiences have happened when I could combine swimming, languages, and travel, such as a few years ago when long course Masters Nationals was held in Puerto Rico.
