MJ. N.
Private tutor in Houston, TX
Education
Advanced PhD Student at Rice University. I previously obtained my M.S and B.S in Electrical Engineering at Rice and UIllinois, respectively.
Experience
My professional expertise is in applied mathematics and statistics; and its applications to solving big data problems in science. I had perfect math scores (800/800) in the GRE and SAT. Courses I can teach include basic probability, linear regression, analysis of variance and hypothesis testing in statistics; linear algebra, calculus, geometry and fourier analysis in mathematics; quantitative reasoning in science. I am happy to tutor or coach middle school or high school students in calculus, statistics or any other quantitative area in science or math; whether to spark a greater interest in these areas or to prepare for tests. Before committing to tutor a student, I would encourage both students and parents to discuss their goals and what the student hopes to achieve via tutoring. My personal learning philosophy is make sure students develop the skills to explore concepts they do not understand until they finally achieve that a-ha moment where the fog clears up. Experiencing such moments early in my middle and high school years gave me the confidence to tackle challenging problems that have lasted months or years later in my career.
