I tutor various topics related to English, including literature, essay editing, and SAT prep, but writing is the subject I enjoy most. It enables me to work with students and help turn their ideas into concrete, communicable words. As a tutor, I like to collaborate and for my students to start with the skills and knowledge they already have. I use their foundation and combine it with new methods, providing continuous feedback along the way. The writing and test taking process is challenging in today's school environment, but I can help my clients take ownership of it. In my experience this works for students who may be more proficient in math and science but, I promise, writing can be a fun subject!A senior at Rice University, I am working towards my Earth science degree. I've been a writing tutor at the communication center in my college for three years, helping with SAT Writing and Critical Reading. The experience has helped me to become a more effective teacher and help students at any level excel at writing. In my free time, I like to go hiking, sailing, and biking and also love to cook. I am based in Houston, Texas.
