Education

I graduated from Westbury High School in Houston, Texas in 1997. I attended St. Edward's University on a baseball scholarship and graduated with a B.A. if Psychology. In 2012, I graduated with a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction (Bilingual Focus) from the University of Texas.

Experience

I have 9 years teaching in a bilingual classroom from early childhood to 4th grade. During my time as a bilingual teacher in the Austin Independent School District, I worked as a curriculum writer in Math, Science, and Language Arts. I also worked as a trainer of teachers and provided professional development to new teachers. For the past year, I worked as a Bilingual Specialist for Region 13 Education Service Center in Austin, Tx. My duties consisted of providing coaching and professional development to surrounding school districts. I worked very closely with teachers in classroom practice, management, and lesson planning. I also worked very closely in providing teacher with student strategies for STAAR testing in both English and Spanish. I currently work as a curriculum writer at the University of Texas Health Science Center. As of the moment, I am working with a team of writers to build a product that promotes oral language and vocabulary development in PK and K students in both English and Spanish.

Hobbies

Spending time with my beautiful wife and daughter is my true joy. We love rooting for our hometown team Astros, Rockets, Texans, and Dynamo! Not to forget the Texas Longhorns too \m/. I have always lived an active life, from sports to my days in the classroom. I believe that learning should be engaging. All children learn in different ways, it is up to the teacher to build upon strengths while closing in on any gaps along the way.
