I have been a teacher for over 30 years. While born and raised in California, I earned my bachelor's degree in Linguistics at a college in Ecuador called Universidad Catolica. I tutor a variety of subjects, but reading is my specialty. I also hold licenses in Brainskills and Brain Gym. I enjoy tutoring reading, because good reading skills are important to success in all classroom subjects and careers. I begin teaching reading by helping students build a strong foundation of basic reading skills. I then work to reinforce these skills and help students begin to love to read. I find that once a struggling student realizes that their reading skills are progressing, they build confidence in the fact that they can then succeed in anything they put their minds to. The right guidance as well as hard work from a student can lead to great moments for both the struggling student and his or her parents.I can tutor not only reading and phonics, but also Spanish 1 through 3, and English. When not teaching or tutoring, I enjoy photography, dance, and music.
