Private tutor in Houston, TX
Education
UCLA - B.A., English
Experience
I have a bachelor's degree in English from UCLA. One of my favorite writers is Shakespeare, and I spent time in England as part of a college program that focused exclusively on his work. I have years of experience tutoring students ranging in age from 6 to 30. I did this work as part of a Los Angeles-based company. I spent a lot of time teaching the subjects of Spanish, English, and Math, as well as assisting students in preparation for the SAT. My main goal as a tutor is to leave the student as more of a self-sufficient learner than he or she was when we began. I don't want to simply give them the answers or teach them how to solve the specific problems we work on but rather teach them the broader concepts so they'll be able to continue forward after our time together. English and Math are my two favorite fields to tutor. I love forming a personal bond with students and teaching them how they can derive life lessons from literature. In my free time I love to read and watch quality films.

Hobbies
I'm an avid reader across genres, though I read more fiction than nonfiction. I'm also an avid moviegoer, one of vanishingly few AMC Stubs A-Listers. I see as many movies as I can. I'm also a runner: I completed my second marathon in 2023 and am working on training for the next one. I also love being in the kitchen: I cook and bake all the time. I got into sourdough bread in 2018 and have been nurturing the same starter ever since. I named her Audrey II after the always-hungry plant in Little Shop of Horrors. Finally, I'm addicted to podcasts, but please don't recommend any to me right now. I already have more subscriptions than I can keep up with!
