Private tutor in Houston, TX
University of Utah - BA, Middle East Studies: Arabic
I recently relocated to Houston, Texas after spending the past nine years living in the Middle East. I primarily tutor others in English concepts and the Arabic language, and have many years of tutoring experience in both languages.Learning a new language can be fun, but it can also be very difficult to master. In order to bring out the fun and creativity of learning, I look to build confidence in my students so they feel empowered to take the risk of speaking their new language. I also utilize many different strategies and concepts to get my students to memorize the language. Among those strategies are speaking the language to a group of people, using their new language in everyday conversation, or writing papers in the language. I feel that my best qualities for teaching Arabic and English to others are my ability to teach grammar, linguistic nuances, pronunciation, and reading. Beyond that, I am capable of tutoring students in public speaking, essay writing, and editing, and I am also able to work with ESL/ELL students. When I am not working with others to master a new language, I enjoy reading, writing, photography, studying the cultures of different countries, and listening to podcasts.
