Experience
It might be an old cliché, but I truly believe learning can be fun. Especially when learning is done in a one-on-one environment. I've enjoyed being a teacher since I first began giving swimming lessons when I was 17. Though I've semi-retired from physical education, I now teach students Math, Physics, and Computer Sciences. Additionally, I work with students on the full range of their MCAT preparation, including their Sciences and Verbal Reasoning sections. I know that each of these subjects can be a bit intimidating, but I'm a firm believer in breaking problems down to smaller, more bite-size portions. I like seeing how my students learn things, and to aid them, I use methods such as word problems, diagrams, and analogies to break down problems. Like I said, learning can be fun. Through actively engaging my students and giving them techniques to solve problems on their own rather than just facts to memorize, it is my goal to equip them with the tools they need to succeed.
