Experience
I am a now a Houstonite, recently making this area my home. I earned a bachelor's degree at Vanderbilt University in Art History and Child Development. Thereafter, I attended the American University of Paris and earned an advanced degree in communications. I once taught at a charter school here in Houston, along with other schools sprinkled all over the world. I had the opportunity to work with elementary to middle school aged children in a multitude of subjects. I enjoy going through the processes: learning and creating individualized lesson plans. I also want tutoring sessions to be enjoyable to the student, in order to promote engagement through participation. Memorizing is not the main way to learn, in my opinion. It is only part of the bigger learning system. Relating to the material is what will help student's solidify the content they are learning. Whatever the subject, everyone has the ability to learn it successfully if it is taught in "their" language. When I am not working, I enjoy running. I like to read and watch documentaries. I am also very fond of traveling. I have visited 25% of the countries around the world, which was part of a goal I had in place.
