Experience

One of the hardest working men in Houston. Get the best tutoring from one of the best qualified tutors in the country. Please note: GRE rates are higher than SAT rates. SAT rates are are higher than general high school studies rates. I focus primarily on Verbal, Reading, Writing elements of SAT and GRE prep. I am not only an SAT/GRE tutor, but can also tutor general writing and essay writing abilities, English and grammar, high school level social studies, and high school and collegiate history. My combined Verbal Reasoning/Analytical Writing score on the Graduate Record Examination placed me in the top 2% of the country, above 98% of all other test takers. I am a former high school instructor in Social Studies with experience teaching World History, U.S. History, Geography, and Economics. I am also a former research assistant at the University of Texas San Antonio, and a former teaching assistant at the University of Houston. In these roles I participated in a long term study with Berkeley on best practices in education. My combined high school and collegiate experience makes me the ideal tutor for anyone looking to expand their verbal skills, essay writing abilities, general test taking abilities or their knowledge of history and social studies. My background as an instructor and my degrees in the field are demonstrate my strong mastery of the study of history. My scores on essay writing, my ongoing writing as a PhD candidate, my former experience as a journalist and my current status with a literary agency exemplify my strong writing skills in both a technical and creative sense. My scoring on both the SAT and GRE demonstrate the soundness of my study method and the results that can be achieved with commitment to it. Finally, my background teaching in high school, tutoring as a member of both the Catapult and Huntington tutoring agencies, a guest lecturer for collegiate audiences and the improvement of my collegiate students' scores over a semester, all point to my ability to raise a student's scores to high levels of excellence. I not only have the theoretical skills, but the real world application and work history to demonstrate my ability. My performance on the GRE and status in the Ph.D program both attest to my skill as a writer and grasp of verbal structure. My real world experience as a contracted writer for Blizzard Entertainment, as an affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs for the WOAI Radio/Spurs Report portal, and current status with an agent for my new book all illustrate my strong grasp of the English language and ability to communicate it in writing.
