Tom C.
Private tutor in Houston, TX
Education
I received my degree in Building Construction from Texas A & M University in 1983. In the year 2000 I obtained my certification in Secondary (High School) Mathematics and have been teaching Geometry for 11 years.
Experience
My background in teaching has been extensive in the subject area of Geometry for 11 years. The most common comments that I get from my students is that I explain the concepts in a way that they can easily understand. My objective is for my students to understand the basics, the steps to successfully complete a problem, be aware of "hidden dragons" that can result in incorrect answers, and consistent successful "shortcuts" that can occasionally be used to solve a problem. I could tutor other subjects in Math, but I personally feel that if you're going to spend money on tutoring, then obtain somebody who is involved with it on a daily basis and who understands and "sees" the difficulties that occur with students on a daily basis. I (on my own) presently tutor large groups of all levels of Geometry students from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturdays at a local Houston High School. I do have fun tutoring Geometry.

Hobbies
I have a strong background in tennis (I assist coaching tennis at the High School and I played on the Texas A & M men's tennis team). I still play league tennis and have been fortunate enough to make it to Nationals a couple of times. I have a wonderful wife and two college age boys. I also have fun working in our yard and activities that involve friends and family.
