I have been a Spanish tutor for seven years. I have taught a 14-year-old girl for one year. Her mother asked me to add Spanish to her coursework,( Her private school does not provide this option.. I have developed an individualised program for her that employs workbook assignments, conversational practice. My second student worked with me for two years. This young man was eleven when I began working with him. As a home-schooled student, his mother required me to develop and execute a Spanish program unique to his needs. As such I used a progression of workbooks, verbal Spanish interactions homework and testing. When we began working together, he had no Spanish skills. By the end of our second year, he was conversationally fluent. I wish to be a tutor with this company because I believe this company provides students the opportunity to grow in their understanding of any given subject matter. In my case,Spanish. I took six hours of college level Spanish while enrolled at the University of Houston. I also worked as a bilingual counselor with children's Protective Services. I worked stress-hotlines for this organization, in order to prevent child-abuse. I was with this organization for four and one-half years. I then worked for an organization specializing in Worman's Compensation complaints. It was my respnsibility at this agency to go to doctor's appointments with engered workers in order to translate between doctor and patient.

Hobbies

I am kind. patient, organized and flexable. Often students struggle with learning a second languange and that struggle can cause frustration. It is my job to ease that frustration and to package the information in a way that allows the student tounderstand and apply the information. When one learns a new language, one takes new vocabulary and linguistic skills and applies them to conversational context. It is my goal to teach students to do this .
