Experience
I consider myself very lucky to have had an eclectic education--my high school and university offered a huge variety of language courses, from Mandarin Chinese to Turkish. My primary specializations in college were German Area Studies, which included language, literature, culture, and also Spanish Language and Culture, with a focus on the language, culture, and civilization of Spain. I also have experience with Russian and Turkish. (First-year Turkish doesn't seem to be a tutoring option, but if you're interested, feel free to let me know!) I have experience writing in a variety of languages, and have studied abroad at the Philipps-Universität Marburg in Marburg, Germany. My main tutoring foci at the moment are English, Literature, Literary Analysis, Composition, and German 1-4. Literacy and strong writing skills are essential to success in today's job market, and foreign language competency opens up entire new worlds of experience. I'm also able to tutor middle and high school English, with a focus on novel and short story analysis. I'm currently a second-grade Judaics teacher at the Miriam Browning Jewish Learning Center, and also have experience tutoring elementary school math, science, and language arts.
