I have a BS in Mathematics from UNC-Chapel Hill and a MS and PhD in Computer Science from Rice University. I started undergrad as a Math/English Literature double major and finished all but two credits for the English major. I have since taken several creative writing classes.
Experience
I have taught Algebra and Pre-Algebra for summer school at the High School level, was the TA for several computer science courses at Rice University and have tutored Upper Elementary, High School, and College students in math. I love mathematics and logic, and I work hard to show that love to my students. My favorite teaching moments are seeing a student who thinks of themselves as "bad at math" really start to grasp the concepts and begin to appreciate the logic behind it all.

Hobbies
I am a mother of three children ages 6, 9, and 12, who love to challenge me on a daily basis. I learn so much through them. I am very involved in their public Montessori school. I'm a first soprano and sing with a nearby choir. I was a ballerina in my youth and still love to dance, when my children let me. I am in the process of revising a YA fantasy novel. I love teaching, and discovering how best to reach each students, so he or she can achieve their greatest potential and feel good and excited about their learning in the process.
