Experience
I earned my bachelor of science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tasmania in Australia. I did a lot of informal tutoring through my high school and college years, helping friends and classmates with various subjects, though mainly math subjects. I also had the opportunity to work as a teacher's assistant for two years while studying for my degree. This gave me experience working with large groups of students. Having experienced both types of teaching, I must admit that I would rather work on an individual basis with my students. This, in my experience, leads to the most successful outcomes academically. I generally tutor students in math-related subjects, as that's where my greatest strengths lie, and work with students all the way from elementary school math up through advanced college subjects, such as statistics and electrical engineering. A lot of people consider these especially difficult areas of study, and I get satisfaction from showing them that this is not necessarily the case. So many times, my students have ended up loving and appreciating math after we've worked together, and even when it didn't go quite that far, they have achieved success in their math studies. Outside of math, I love hiking, traveling, and fishing.
