I love teaching and learning, but I went through my own struggles to become a successful student. I didn't prioritize my studies until I got to college, and that is when academics really took on an important role in my life. I stopped looking at subjects as uninteresting or difficult, and I started to embrace them and find what I could like about them. I became driven to achieve success for my own future. I started out at a community college and I took it seriously so that I could get accepted to the University of Houston. I completed my degree in psychology before continuing at the university to earn my graduate social work degree. I then became a therapist, which I did for 10 years before deciding to pursue a teaching career. I'm now certified at the K - 12 level, I'm also certified in gifted and talented, special education, and ESL. I can assist students in general elementary and middle school subjects, literature, reading, English, essays, grammar, social work, psychology, anthropology, and preparation for standardized exams like the PSAT, ACT, GRE, STAAR, CLEP, SAT, and others. I am motivated to help students develop learning skills that they can use throughout their academic careers and lives. In my free time, I enjoy watching television shows and reading.
