I graduated from the University of Houston, where I studied education with a specialization in reading and writing subjects. As an instructor, I've worked as a testing prep for the STAAR exam and am certified in the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System, or TELPAS. My experience as a tutor has included middle through college-level students, though I can also work with professional adults looking to improve their communication skills and elementary-level students. No matter what the student's goals may be, I align mine to work towards success. I have the skills necessary to help a student build their essay editing skills or strengthen their understanding of grammar concepts. I believe it is important for a student to build self-confidence in their skills, allowing them to tackle any writing task that comes their way. I strive to meet each student's personal needs by getting to know their learning style, motivations, interests, strengths, and weaknesses. As I tutor, I am constantly adjusting my methods to better reach my student. In my personal life, I am passionate about athletics. I participate in the Olympics and have won the African Games in track and field twice. I am also a vocalist and recording artist in my free time, developing my own music.
