I earned my bachelor's in anthropology with a focus on archaeology at the University of Kansas. While enrolled, I studied as many courses in history as I could, including ancient Egypt and Imperial China. I adore history and anthropology, two subjects that require high reading skills. Though I struggled as a child, I was able to develop my reading comprehension skills through the patience and guidance of teachers and parents. Thanks to their efforts, I have a strong understanding of the concepts that are necessary to have high reading skills. In addition to reading, I tutor students of all ages in history, writing, English, and geography. In the past two years, I've worked primarily with elementary-level students. I pride myself on my patience, a valuable quality in a tutor. Through patience, I can work through a concept at the student's natural learning pace, explaining the same concept in a variety of ways to ensure that they fully understand it. I plan each lesson around the student's individual learning style, goals, and needs. I work to be a flexible tutor, ready to adapt my methods as the student learns. In my down time, I love to play disk golf and ultimate frisbee with my friends.
