University of Houston-Clear Lake - Bachelor in Arts, Interdisciplinary Studies

I am a tutor that specializes in all elementary subjects as well as writing. I have been working as a teacher's aide for the past four years, so I have a good amount of experience working with young children, but I have also worked with students as old as 15. My tutoring philosophy is that learning occurs at a much higher rate when the student is having fun, so I try to make each session fresh and exciting. I strive to make things come alive, using visual examples and other learning tools whenever possible. Many students (myself included) struggle to learn in a lecture based environment, so I do my best to make my sessions more hands-on and welcome questions and conversation. I also look for alternative ways to help students retain knowledge, whether it be a silly acronym or song. And as I get to know each student, I do my best to find how they best learn and tailor my lessons accordingly.      At this time, I am also attending the University of Houston-Clear Lake in pursuit of a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. My goal is to one day teach in a 4th or 5th grade classroom. In my free time I love to golf, attend live sporting events (especially high school football), and spend time with my friends and family.
