Education-BS Physics, University of Dallas
As a science major at a liberal arts college, I got a little bit of everything. I have rigorous knowledge of science from my degree, but also an extensive knowledge of classical Western literature, history, and philosophy.
-MS Physics, Texas A&M: Commerce
ExperienceI am a High School Physics teacher. And I enjoyed helping others understand the subject that I love.
But don't assume that I only have a high-school understanding of Physics. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Physics (not a B.A. of Science Education), which included courses such as University Physics, Modern Physics, Statistical Physics, Optics, Electromagnetic Theory, Electrodynamics, Quantum Physics, and Theoretical Mechanics.
I am currently working on a Masters in Physics to be able to teach Dual Credit physics and University Physics.
My style of tutoring tends to be a Socratic. I prefer to ask my students questions about what we know about any given problem in order to help them see how to do it on their own (since I won’t be around for the tests). As a consequence, tutoring sessions may take a little longer, but hopefully with more understanding at the end.
I've also taught English to adult learners with Berlitz English in Beijing. I especially enjoyed focusing on the many common idiomatic expressions used in English and helping to visualize their origins.
HobbiesIn my free time I primarily enjoy challenging myself with logic problems, riddles, and current science research.
I enjoy reading and contact juggling in the rest of my spare time.
