As a tutor I would like to assist people in areas that they tend to struggle with. I like to believe that I am a highly effective teacher. As a teacher I have tutored students before. In the 2010-2011 school year I tutored 15 students in math that were at risk of failing. Each of the students passed the TAKS test. 7 of the students received a commended score of 94% or higher and one student received a perfect score.Before becoming a teacher, I was a teacher's assistant working with first and second graders on Math and Reading. I have also taught middle, some high school, and college math.

I like to make my students take ownership of their learning. I do not just talk AT them. I prefer more hands-on activities. I believe if a person actively learns, it will stick with them. I want to be a tutor because I like the look on a person's face when they "get it" and knowing that I had a part in that.
