Education

I earned my Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 2008 with a 3.4 GPA. I came into college well prepared, but quickly learned I had to take my learning and studying habits up a notch to complete in an environment as competitive as UT's Chemical Engineering program. During my experience I developed a tried and tested method to be successful in any course you take, so getting tutoring from me will help you in other subjects besides the one I am tutoring you for as well. During my time at UT I took every single mathematics course that the school offered and did extremely well in them. I am very well versed in my fundamental understanding of all math courses which helps me teach any of them, because I know how they all tie together. I also had to take numerous Chemistry courses as part of my degree plan and took several more as electives. My passion has always been towards Chemistry and I enjoy teaching it the most. The natural combination of excelling in math and having a passion for chemistry lead me to become a Chemical Engineer.

Experience

I have a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and a 3.5 GPA. I have taken and made high A's in essentially every math course there is up to Calculus 4 (differential equations), as well as numerous chemistry courses; some were required for my Chemical Engineering Degree, some I chose as electives. These courses include every general AP chemistry course up through the college level, as well as physical, organic and analytical chemistry. I thoroughly understand how to teach the fundamentals of all these courses and can help students in the courses I am not tutoring them in by preparing them to be a better student. I wish that I had utilized tutoring more when I was in college so part of my passion is to give back to the students I tutor and let them learn from my mistakes and also my success. I know what it took and takes to be successful in high school and then college, and wish to pass this knowledge on to others in need of help. I know what it feels like to be lost and hopeless in a course, which is why I want to offer my services so no student has to beat themselves up over not understanding something at first. I have over 6 years of experience in tutoring high school and college students in every mathematics courses, as well as various chemistry and physics courses. I have received excellent reviews and have never had a student wish to cease my services. I have extraordinary communication skills, especially for an engineer/scientific person, which is key in tutoring. Along with communication skills, knowledge, and experience, my other most important quality is my flexibility in the way in which I tutor. I have a few core principles, but easily adapt to the way students learn because they all learn differently. I can communicate and effectively tutor anyone; people from various cultural and technical/non-technical backgrounds. I can ensure that my tutoring services will be highly sought after once I have had one session with a client. I uphold the highest integrity and have a lot of different skills to offer. I also have a little over three years of professional industry experience as a Chemical Engineer and can pass on wisdom and tips on how to be successful in your career, whether it is post high school or post college. I am well rounded and have all the tools, experience and knowledge you are looking for in a private tutor, and can promise you or your kid's grades will improve, as well as their overall study habits.

Hobbies

I love to watch and play most sports, including: football, basketball, baseball and frisbee golf. I played Baseball and Football in high school and continued with intramurals in college. I was a jock in high school who happened to be very smart, especially in scientific courses. I managed to do very well in high school without too much effort, but preparing for college is totally different. I loved the challenge or learning to do things more independently, but also realize how hard it is and it can easily overwhelm people. One of my passions has been tutoring mostly friends and acquaintances in math and science courses because I love to teach material, as well as help others. I also have always loved to go fishing at my beach house and hunt from time to time. Most of all I just love hanging out with friends, talking about stuff, and having a good time. I also spend a lot of time with my family and am very close to my whole extended families. I like to talk about anything scientific, but also just like having good intellectual conversations in general. I have a passion for learning about new technology and am also extremely interested in current, new and alternative energy. I have in interest in a lot of different things and hobbies, but like to be well rounded and do not tend to focus on too many specifically. I grew up in a diverse area, went to diverse grade schools, and met a lot of different and interesting people in college and in my professional career. I can easily get along with and help people with different ethnic and educational backgrounds, and believe that there is not a person I cannot help/tutor. I have more to offer than helping a student improve thier grades one particular course. I can help give them guidance as to what to expect in the future and how to achieve their goals.
