Experience

With over 10+ years of tutoring experience it is my most humble belief that it is important that students understand as well as be understood. Reflecting on my educational experiences, I appreciate the immeasurable impact that teachers make on the lives of young people. I also realize that young people throughout life will use the skills and knowledge acquired in the classroom. Therefore, as a tutor, I hope to be a role model that cultivates in young people, open minds, the knowledge and ability to look at the world critically, and the belief in ones capacity to make positive contributions to society. My time in school has developed my philosophy of valuing each child as an individual, as well as part of a community. I aim to give children as many learning opportunities and experiences as possible in order to engage, motivate and prepare them for future life. An appropriate, balanced, challenging and creative curriculum is essential in developing children’s skills, knowledge and understanding all of which underpin personalized learning. From my experience I have seen that tutoring provides extensive and sometimes exhausting challenges for which the rewards more than justify the effort. It is a profession, which I would relish, giving me the chance to make a difference in the lives of others at their most impressionable. Coming from an era of teaching where students were also taught to be “seen and not heard,” I have taken the traditional values learned, but yet I have update them, The children are the voice of the future, and should in fact definitely be heard! It is my job to give them the confidence to exercise that voice intelligently!

Hobbies

I am educational enthusiast that truly believes every second of our lives is an opportunity to learn something new. The rewards of private tutoring is a satisfaction from within that I feel when I am able to help students reach their target grades and improve their confidence in mathematics. Helping students over mind-blocks or barriers, the student in fact reveals a new way of looking at a problem or a new perspective on a solution useful for the problems at hand an applicable to potential problems of life! By offering aid in my expertise and I gain the creativity to excite enthusiasm and understanding in my students; a uniquely challenging but immensely rewarding job role. The role of private tutor also enables students to really develop their interpersonal skills. The very nature of intuition means that you are constantly in dialogue with your students and are able to cultivate a unique relationship with them, one that proves extremely rewarding when students achieve the success they strive for. Some of my hobbies recreational projects other than tutoring include computer building & networking, volunteering, eating right, staying fit and running; all of which actually make me a better students. As Computer Engineering student, I love to break down computer units of all kinds, sorts, sizes, shapes, and platforms. Knowing the inns and out of the computer entirely is definitely something that I pride myself and know, but am I also learning more about each day as computers of today’s age shape the future of the world. In conjunction with my knowledge of computer hardware I am also a software design, web design, critical chinking. Local Volunteering is another pass time that I find extremely rewarding that goes hand in hand with being a tutor. Volunteering provides physical and mental rewards. It reduces stress: experts report that when you focus on someone other than yourself, it interrupts usual tension-producing patterns. To volunteer also makes you healthier. A person who volunteers versus one who does not moods and emotions, like optimism, joy, and control over one’s fate, strengthens the immune system. Volunteering provides valuable community services so more money can be spent on local improvements. Volunteers also gain professional experience. You can test out a career and it brings people together. As a volunteer you help: support families (daycare and eldercare), improve schools (tutoring, literacy), support youth (mentoring and after-school programs) and beautify the community (beach and park cleanups). 5k Running in is also another major hobby I spend time doing I started running for the physical benefits, but quickly discovered other, more metaphysical rewards. Health reasons are great, but it's the less tangible benefits that finally motivate me to persist, to become a better runner and person. While running can be a social activity, it is more frequently an opportunity to spend a little time with myself and my thoughts, and a chance to develop an increased self-awareness. I become more aware of the nuances and condition of my person and body, discover things about my inner self. Such is the case and when I aid my student from day one of our session before pen ever meets the paper. Lets get started today!
