Education

Political Science and International Studies Major with minors in French and History at Baldwin Wallace (3.3 GPA) and Certification in International Law and Organizations at American University (3.8 GPA)

Experience

I taught 5th and 6th Grade Math Teacher at a Breakthrough Charter School in Cleveland. I received a rating of Skilled from my administrators for excellence in student growth and classroom leadership. I was a City Year Americorps Corps Member and I mentored, tutored, and provided classroom support for 24 students of the fifth grade in the areas of attendance, behavior, and coursework specifically focusing on Mathematics and English Language Arts with the goal of advancing student knowledge and helping to lower the high-school drop-out crisis. I also wrote lesson plans specialized to the individualized learning styles of 12 focus list students assisting them in Mathematics and English Language Arts and I am on track to log a total of 900 minutes of successful data-driven interventions with each student. I lead a Mathematics club twice a week for four non-focus list students and two focus list students to enrich each students’ knowledge of foundational skills. I also provide tutoring services for students grades K-5 afterschool to extend the learning day. I want to be a tutor because I want to help children realize their full academic potential. I scored a 5 on the AP US History Exam, and a 4 on the AP English 4 Exam. Other items from my resume include: I earned the White Rose Award of Excellence for Female Students from Baldwin Wallace University for outstanding contributions to the University inside and outside of the classroom. I founded and led a student organization called Stand for Human Rights that was an advocacy and awareness group that promoted educating young people about human rights crises and violations. I was a delegate on my University's Model United Nations team and received an Excellence Award and The Small Delegation Award from the Lake Erie Model United Nations. I also participated in The African Union Model United Nations in Washington, DC, and the Harvard National Model United Nations in Boston, Massachusetts. I was awarded a scholarship to attend the Washington Semester Program where I earned a certificate in International Law and interned for the US State Department for my final semester of college. This program also enabled me to travel to the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Switzerland to study international organizations in action for a month.

Hobbies

Some of my hobbies and interests are international politics, music, and reading. When I was in high school I was the principal flutist in the Parma Senior High School Wind Ensemble and I earned the Principal Chair Second Part in the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony. I have 10+ years of training in classical music. I studied the French Language for 9 years and am a fluent writer and speaker. I love reading fiction and fantasy. Some of my favorite books include the Harry Potter Series and the Phantom Tollbooth (both of which I have been able to incorporate into ELA lessons this school year with my 5th graders). I also have a sincere love of comic books and movies and adore Star Wars and all things Marvel like Spider-man and the Avengers. During my free time I like to relax with my family, read, go for walks to the metroparks or museums, and play games (board and video) with my family. Most of all I enjoy spending time with my husband and our neice and nephew.
