Education
University of Durham, MA (enrolled), Medieval History Southwestern University, BA, cum laude in Classics
Experience
I graduated cum laude from Southwestern University, a small liberal arts university in Georgetown, Texas, with a degree in Classics and a strong minor in history. Following my graduation, I began a Master's Arts degree in Medieval History at the University of Durham, one of the United Kingdom's top universities. I have recently submitted an approximately 20,000 word dissertation titled "Agricultural Practices and Managerial Efficiency at the Durham Cathedral Priory Manor of Houghall, 1370-1399" in partial fulfilment of the requirements for that degree. I expect my Master's of Arts to be conferred in early January of 2015; all the requirements have been met or submitted. Over the past few years I have tutored students in both Latin and Greek; during the course of my relationship with the students, history, mythology, and religion were introduced and discussed so that a fuller understanding of the subject at hand could be gained. It is my belief that history cannot be understood without the proper setting. While the knowledge of dates and facts are of course important, they are also but a path to the analysis of history. This same belief colors my instruction in languages-divorcing literature from the setting in which it was written can only ever allow for an incomplete insight into the source material. Having lived and travelled abroad extensively, I have found that history and classical languages to be one of the most important means to understand whence we come. It is therefore my desire to help students with any difficulties in these fields. As such, I try to be flexible in the hours I am available and my fees. I hope I can help you achieve success with your studies.
