Experience

I've been fortunate to have had thousands of hours of experience in tutoring statistics, finance, financial and managerial accounting, basic math, algebra, calculus 1-3. I've enjoyed my experience tutoring students as young as 6th grade age to over 60 years of age. My range of support has included helping high school football athletes with SAT Math, UH math major studying for the Society of Actuaries Probability Exam, and helping a licensed real-estate professional to improve her skills in commercial real estate cash-flow analysis. My background and experience is unique. I was recruited to play basketball in college. Also gifted and passionate about quantitative business analysis, I started my career as a business analyst for Chevron Corporation. At the same time I worked directly under a project manager within the Aerospace Industry who was responsible for multi-year, multi-million dollar US Air Force and NASA space projects. After becoming a Corporate Sales Executive in the enterprise telecom industry, I ventured to start my own business providing professional services ranging from data analysis to telecom support in the enterprise space. In the past, I have worked in Corporate America and have led as a technology entrepreneur. I have used my business experience to develop student knowledge, cultivate student agency and collaborate alongside them to create goals that will push them to the next level. With the experiences that I have had in education (both in the public school district and charter networks), I have developed a working understanding of the factors and dynamics that are challenges to student learning. At the same time, I have cultivated a unique skillset that allows me to help students achieve academic mastery and growth, utilize technology in a blended classroom approach, and leverage equity and voice for all students. I have taught all high school math curriculum, have a strong background in data analytics, Corporate Sales, and entrepreneurship. These experiences further propel me to utilize data to inform instruction and allows me to open the door to the world for the students to learn from. I embrace the seemingly complicated irrelevant computations in the world of math. I am very thorough and process oriented and many who I work with say that I often challenge them to think critically. In business, the saying goes, "...people buy from people.”. In the educational settings, the saying is "...students don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." As a former NCAA basketball student athlete, I create strong bonds with my students through basketball and competition. I believe in them! Most importantly, I model teamwork and sportsmanship; helping to create a community of learners and members that will be best prepared to meet their future. Hobbies

I played NCAA basketball and still love playing the game. I'm the basketball coach of my 9 and 10 year old daughters' basketball team, and I enjoy helping them succeed in life through sports by also teaching them how to grace a win and embrace a loss. I also enjoy amplifying the missing voices in the story of colonial Africa while building a strong network from actual eye-witnesses to scholars in that field.
