I’m a PhD candidate in the School of Business at a local university, in spring of 2013, I dropped my first advanced statistics class because I was failing so badly, made me feel as if I had limited opportunity to successfully complete the second advanced statistics class. However, in a very short period of time, Dr. Y was able to not only take me back through the basics of statistics to get me to a basic level of understanding, she also worked with me weekly to prepare me for the upcoming classes, as well as gain clarity from the class sessions in post class meetings. Although the course still was not easy for me, Dr. Y certainly helped me to successfully complete the course. She was very strong at assessing where I was, determining what steps we needed to take, and successfully helped me to meet those learning goals. Her approach was very supportive and encouraging, which is what I needed given I had dropped the first statistics class. Often, I felt like I was ahead of many of the over-achievers in the class as a result of working with Dr. Y. Melinda
